The Scriptures

The Scriptures are full of people encountering God: hearing, seeing, discerning, receiving courage, wisdom, healing, direction, and a larger sense of what is present than the circumstances in front of them would suggest. Spiritual Realities is a place for taking that possibility seriously.

We call this mystical Christianity, not because we want to become obscure or detached from real life, but because we expect God to be encountered. We believe Scripture, experience, and reason belong together. Each helps us listen more carefully; none relieves us of the responsibility to discern.

So this is a place where questions are welcome. Where an experience does not make someone more important than anyone else. Where we can learn to test what we receive without fear, and remain open to what God may be showing us.

How this began

Spiritual Realities began with a simple conviction: heaven is not merely a place we go after death. The life of God is already reaching into this one.

For many people, that conviction has become buried beneath religious habit, disappointment, fear, or a Western imagination that has learnt to call the unseen unreal. Yet something in us keeps reaching for more. Not more activity. Not a more impressive version of faith. More reality.

This community was formed to make space for that search: to help people let go of what obscures Christ, recover a biblical imagination, and develop practices that allow what they are discovering to become lived rather than merely discussed.

We are still learning. Spiritual Realities is not built around having every answer. It is built around the belief that God is able to lead us further than the frameworks we have inherited, and that we do not have to make that journey alone.

About Paul Hopkins

I am Paul Hopkins, the founder of Spiritual Realities.

For more than forty years, I have been involved in Christian ministry, including twenty-eight years with Youth With A Mission, where I served in national leadership. I have taught in theological-education settings connected with universities, and hold a Master’s degree from King’s College London.

But the path that led here has also been a personal one. Over the past fifteen years, I have pursued a deeper engagement with God: paying attention to the inner life, learning from Scripture afresh, and allowing experiences that did not fit neatly inside my previous framework to ask more of me.

I have travelled widely across Europe and spent years mentoring individuals and groups who long for Christianity to become experiential, visionary, and grounded in Christ. I am especially drawn to helping Western Christians recover what our culture often makes difficult to notice: that the unseen life of God is not an optional addition to faith. It is part of its living centre.

I do not want to offer a formula, a spiritual hierarchy, or a role for people to perform. I want to create the kind of space where we can encounter God, learn to discern together, and become more fully ourselves in Christ. And, being British, I intend to retain a sense of humour while we do it.

The Spiritual Realities Academy

The Academy is the practical home of this journey.

It is a membership community for people who want more than inspiration. Inside, we work with biblically rooted practices that help spiritual truth become something we can recognise, return to, and build into daily life. The material is deep, but it is not designed to remain abstract. We take things step by step.

Members have access to courses, live online sessions with me and the community, and small groups where questions, experiences, and real-life practice can be held with maturity. Current courses include Biblical Meditation, Engaging the Faces of YHWH, and Voices, with more being developed as the community grows.

The Academy is not a content library to consume alone. It is a place to practise, to be encouraged, and to find others who are learning to walk the same road. Growth is often slow when we attempt it in isolation. It becomes more possible when we are among people who can help us recognise what is happening, stay with the process, and keep going.
